What is Root Canal?
Root canal or endodontic treatment is a fairly common dental procedure in which the pulp of the tooth, tissue containing its vessels and nerves, is removed.
This procedure is performed to prevent the tooth from being extracted, allowing it to remain in the dental arch.
When is it required?
Root canal is required when tooth pulp has become infected by microbes, causing inflammation or even necrosis.
Possible causes that may lead to pulp infection include:
-
Advanced tooth decay
- Old fillings that have been damaged
- Tooth fracture
- Periodontal disease that affects tooth pulp

After Root Canal Treatment
In the first few days, mild symptoms are normal and expected.
After they subside, it is necessary to restore treated tooth, so that it resists to the forces of the oral and maxillofacial system and prevent its re-infection.
Restoration method (crown or fillings) is sublject to its clinical case and damage extent.
